Manoj Desai, a film exhibitor and theater owner of iconic theaters like Gaiety, Galaxy, and Maratha Mandir in Mumbai became a famous name during Liger’s release. His opinions on various films go viral these days on social media.
A recent video where he said that Tiger 3 was rejected by the audience for showing love for Pakistan created waves and was later taken down after Salman Khan’s PR became active.
Now Manoj Desai’s latest comments about the big clash between ‘Salaar’ and ‘Dunki’ at the box office are making headlines. There are problems in deciding how the shows will be shared, and it looks like it will take some time to sort things out. Because of this, many single-screen theaters haven’t been allowed to start booking tickets yet, and Manoj Desai is not happy about it.
Desai shared that they were told to delay booking tickets for single screens, causing issues for the Thursday releases. He’s not happy with the way the system seems to favor multiplexes, making it hard for single screens, to sell tickets for the upcoming movies.
He added, “Every time, there’s a clash, we get fu*ked. What should we do? Anyone would be angry that a film is releasing in just three days and yet, we can’t take benefit of it and sell tickets. They are ruining the film. Someone let Shah Rukh Khan know that they are fu*king with his film.”
Desai tried calling Vinay Chowksey, who handles film bookings for his theater but got no response, adding to his frustration. Although bookings for Thursday at Gaiety are open, Maratha Mandir’s single-screen bookings haven’t started, potentially leading to show conflicts.
