There was a time when the only films to do well at the box office were those with mal protagonists. Now things have taken a new turn. Films with female leads are doing just as well as those with male leads, if not better. And with this new trend, the female actresses are now getting their dues. This is easily reflected in the numbers.

Kangana Ranaut, the queen of female centric films, tops the list with a pay cheque of 11 crores for her last film. Deepika Padukone of Piku fame follows closely with a remuneration of 8-9 crore per film while close competitor Priyanka Chopra averages 7-8 crore per film.
Earlier, Priyanka Chopra had talked about the huge disparity in the money earned by actors and actresses and had said that success of female oriented films will help fill this wage gap. Although, the battle has not been won yet, the numbers clearly show a vast improvement in the situation.
