Hyderabad is kind of the cultural cinematic hub for Telugu cinema but yet the people of the city were derived off large screen theatrical experience. This is due to the fact that the IMAX projection facility was not available in the city for many decades.
There is this large screen production at the famous Prasad’s but this isn’t an IMAX feature presentation facility.
Finally, the IMAX authorities have communicated that they will be setting up an IMAX projection screen at Asian cinema complex in Hyderabad. This is going to be the first official entry of IMAX in the city.
This is naturally some good news for cinema followers across the city, but there is a fair bit of detrimental information associated with the same. This has something to do with the ticket allocation and advance bookings.
The only large screen facility in the city, Prasad has long waiting queues all year long. Similar trend is now being observed at the newly famous Allu Cinemas in Kokapet. This large screen presentation is also booked much in advance.
The main problem for the IMAX projection in Asian Cinemas is going to be to keep it accessible to the common folk. If the theatre management resort to advanced blocking and keep the tickets away from the common folk for weeks together after a new release, it would defeat the whole purpose.
The Prasad large screen and Allu Kokapet Screen already facing such scenarios due to extreme unavailability of tickets. Only time will tell if a similar scenario will be observed at the upcoming IMAX projection as well.
