Vijay Announces Jana Nayagan Date: Fans Face Ticket Shock

Vijay in Jana Nayagan release poster

After months of uncertainty, Jana Nayagan, Vijay’s final film before stepping away from cinema to focus completely on politics, is finally set to hit theatres on July 23.

Vijay announced the release date with a new poster on social media. The post has turned emotional for fans, as many believe it could be one of the last updates from his actor account now that he has become the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

With the release date finally locked, excitement has reached a new high. However, fans in Canada have run into an unexpected surprise.

Those planning to watch Jana Nayagan at York Cinemas won’t be able to book tickets online. Instead, all tickets must be purchased directly at the theatre’s box office.

The theatre has also introduced a phased priority booking system. For the first 24 hours, only VIP members who had booked tickets before the film’s earlier release was postponed and are still awaiting adjustments can purchase tickets. The following 48 hours are reserved for other VIP members. Only after these two phases will ticket sales open to the general public. Customers must also produce valid membership or eligibility proof while purchasing tickets.

The unusual system comes after Jana Nayagan was delayed by nearly seven months due to issues related to the censor process. York Cinemas had cancelled its earlier advance bookings following the postponement, and the new policy is meant to give priority to customers affected by those cancellations.

It is important to note that this arrangement applies only to York Cinemas in Canada. There are no such restrictions elsewhere, and online bookings for the film’s worldwide release are expected to continue as usual.

Directed by H. Vinoth and starring Vijay and Pooja Hegde, Jana Nayagan is one of the most anticipated Tamil films in recent years. As Vijay’s final film before fully dedicating himself to politics, it is expected to register massive opening numbers worldwide.
