Kalki 2898AD Hindi BO

The reception to the Kalki 2898 AD trailer has been a mixed bag on social media. While it has garnered praise from many, some have expressed less enthusiasm. Hindi YouTubers have showered it with love, whereas certain Twitter influencers have found it somewhat underwhelming.

These mixed reactions have sparked speculations about the film’s opening in the Hindi markets.

Given its massive budget of 600 crores and featuring stars like Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, and Kamal Haasan, anticipation should have been higher. A 25-crore opening in the Hindi belts should have been a cakewalk.

However, Kalki struggled to generate buzz from the start. Promotional materials failed to ignite excitement among the Hindi audience. However, the trailer is decent enough to get the cinephiles interested.

The big question now is whether it can surpass the 20-crore mark on its opening day in Hindi.

Anil Thadani’s AA Films secured the Hindi rights for a staggering Rs 100 crores, marking one of the highest deals for a South Indian actor-led film.

With distribution costs at 100 crores, Kalki needs to net around 200-225 crores to achieve clean-hit status. Anything above 180 crores would be considered a success while crossing the 250 crore mark would elevate it to super-hit status.

Prabhas’ recent film Salaar raked in 150 crores, a figure comparable to his 2019 Saaho. Meanwhile, Adipurush amassed around 115 crores. For Kalki to be considered a hit, it must surpass the box office numbers of these films.

Realistically, trade experts anticipate Kalki’s Hindi opening to range between 10-12 crores, which may initially seem underwhelming. However, with super positive word-of-mouth, it has the potential to see significant jumps in collections, paving the way for substantial success.

To boost its prospects, the makers plan to host a grand event in Mumbai, aiming to drum up excitement and ensure a strong opening for the film in Hindi belts.
