Kantara 2 Cursed? Mysterious Deaths, Deadly Secrets

Kantara Chapter 1 Curse

Who could have predicted that a medium-budget film made for just Rs. 16 crore would go on to collect an extraordinary Rs. 400 crore worldwide? Yet, that is exactly what Kantara achieved.

Its phenomenal success has created massive anticipation for the upcoming prequel, Kantara: Chapter 1, for which Hombale Films has allocated a far bigger budget. However, the production has faced a series of challenges right from the start, leading to whispers of a so-called divine curse suggesting the film should never be made.

Producer Chaluvay Gowda has now spoken out to clarify the situation and explain the real events. Since work on the project began, there have been only a few unfortunate incidents. In November 2024, a fire on the Kolluru set injured a few crew members.

In January 2025, another fire broke out on a different set but caused no injuries or loss of life. More recently, actor-director Rishab Shetty narrowly escaped a boat mishap that damaged some camera equipment but left everyone safe.

The team had sought blessings from the village deity Panjurli before filming began to ensure smooth progress. Holding onto that faith, they have continued shooting without letting rumours affect morale. Gowda has also stressed that certain accidents and deaths mentioned in the media have no connection with the production at all.

The schedule has been extremely demanding, with filming starting at 6 AM daily, which requires the cast and crew to be ready by 4 AM. Over 80 percent of the movie is being shot on real locations, giving it a raw and authentic edge.

Kantara: Chapter 1 is scheduled for a grand release on October 2, and business offers are already flooding in. Trade experts predict that the Telugu distribution rights alone could set new records, potentially marking another milestone for the blockbuster franchise.
