Keerthy Suresh, who got married last December, has not appeared in many big films recently. However, she signed Dil Raju’s Rowdy Janardhan starring Vijay Deverakonda and directed by Ravi Kiran. It was also expected she would act in Dil Raju’s other much talked about film Yellamma directed by Venu of Balagam fame.
The film has been in discussions for a long time. At one stage, the makers considered Nani for the lead and later they discussed the role with other actors. Recently there were reports that music director Devi Sri Prasad has been almost finalized as the lead hero.
Sai Pallavi was the early choice for the female lead. Later reports suggested that Keerthy Suresh was being considered.
Keerthy has now given full clarity. During promotions for her upcoming film Revolver Rita, she stated that she is not part of Yellamma. She did not reveal the reason for saying no to the project.
This development shocked many because Keerthy is known for accepting strong and meaningful characters. Inside reports suggest that the role in Yellamma was a juicy one with a lot of scope for performance, but Keerthy did not feel excited by it. For now, her focus stays on Rowdy Janardhan. Meanwhile, the makers of Yellamma are still searching for their female lead.
