Keerthy Suresh’s Career Dark Phase

Keerthy SureshSometimes a groundbreaking blockbuster can turn into a hurdle instead of a stepping stone in some actors’ careers. Mahanati was one such film for Keerthy Suresh.

Keerthy Suresh received never before acclaim and accolades for the film, including the National Award for Best Actress. But after that, her career came to a standstill as there were no offers for her that matched the stature of Mahanati’s role.

While in an interview recently, Keerthy Suresh revealed that for six months after Mahanati, she sat idle at home as she didn’t have any offers. She said, “After Mahanati, it was a rough patch for me. I didn’t get any offer for six months post-release. And the films which came to me were all women-centric. After a point to become financially stable, I did choose a few films too. Now it’s all fine.”

Though she didn’t name those films, it can be easily guessed that those films were Penguin and Miss India, which premiered directly on OTT. Both films got terrible reviews, and Keerthy’s performance also got panned severely.

After a string of flops, Keerthy Suresh was finally a part of a hit film with Dasara this year. Though it was Nani who ran the show, Keerthy’s performance as Vennela also got brownie points from the audience and critics alike. Her dances were also appreciated by classes and masses.

Let’s hope Keerthy Suresh continues her winning streak with her upcoming films, Maamannan, Bholaa Shankar, and Raghu Thatha.
