Online ticketing portal, Book My Show is getting illicitly influenced by third-party apps of late. The user ratings that work as a testament to public response to a film are allegedly getting influenced through bots.
Incidentally, young hero Vishwak Sen has confirmed that his latest film Gaami has fallen prey to this online attack from illicit sources. He claimed that certain people have deployed bots to give 1/10 star ratings to Gaami on social media with the intention of bringing down his film.
The same thing happened with Guntur Kaaram as the makers took a legal course of action over the negative trends on Book My Show where there was a huge influx of 1-star ratings for the film.
This negative campaign of using bots to downgrade a film is not a good thing for the entire industry. After Guntur Kaaram, now Vishwak Sen has raised his voice against this.
Perhaps it is time for both Book My Show and the makers of films to work against this illicit negative campaign as this can’t continue for too long.
Of late, we are seeing a few small films using these bots to pump up ratings for their films while certain notable films are facing the wrath for the negative trends of 1-star ratings.
