Lenin’s Lost Chartbuster: Thaman Opens Up

Thaman reveals Lenin special song plan

Looks like Lenin missed out on a potential chartbuster. Music director Thaman shared a behind-the-scenes story and revealed that the team had once planned a glamorous special song for the film. But the idea was eventually shelved.

Thaman shared that the makers wanted to include a glamorous dance number to boost the film’s commercial appeal. Even makers considered actresses Pooja Hegde and Rashmika Mandanna for the special song.

However, as the screenplay evolved, the team realized the song did not blend naturally with the film’s narrative. Since adding a special number would disrupt the story’s flow and reviewers might criticize it as a “speed breaker,” the makers eventually dropped it.

To preserve the film’s narrative momentum, the makers ultimately decided to drop the song. Thaman admitted that he was disappointed because he believed the number had the potential to become a chartbuster and further enhance the film’s musical appeal.

Although the item song was dropped, Lenin still impressed audiences with Thaman’s energetic background score, which has been widely praised as one of the film’s biggest strengths.
