Megastar Chiranjeevi’s Mega158, directed by Bobby Kolli, is an exciting film to watch out for. After the blockbuster success of Waltair Veerayya, expectations from this combination are naturally pretty high.
Music director Thaman has now added to that excitement.
Responding to the buzz around the film’s first glimpse, expected on August 22 for Chiranjeevi‘s birthday, Thaman confidently told fans to expect something beyond their imagination, writing, “Enthainaa Oohinchukondi.” His post has already gone viral among Mega fans.
Confidence is fine, but it also brings added responsibility.
Thaman is coming off Lenin, where his background score received decent appreciation for elevating some emotional and action sequences. However, the songs themselves couldn’t create much of an impact. Apart from Jaya Mangalam and Soul of Lenin, the album failed to create the kind of chartbuster impact many had expected. Many feel Thaman promises the sky but sometimes delivers mid-level music.
Coming to Mega158, the Chiranjeevi-Bobby combination already set a high benchmark with Waltair Veerayya, where both the songs and the background score by DSP played a crucial role in the film’s success. Naturally, fans will expect Thaman to match or even surpass that musical standard.
One thing is certainly in his favor. In recent years, Thaman has consistently proved that background score is one of his biggest strengths. Whether it is Akhanda, Veera Simha Reddy, Guntur Kaaram, or Lenin, his BGM has often earned more appreciation than the soundtrack itself.
For Mega158, though, both departments are equally important. If Bobby is indeed planning another festive commercial entertainer, the film will need chartbuster songs as much as a powerful background score.
Thaman has already made a blockbuster promise. Now, all eyes are on August 22 to see whether the first glimpse justifies that confidence.
