Mad Rush In Mad B.O. Situation!Tollywood is going through its worst phase. Besides the well-made big-budget extravaganzas, medium and small-budget films are not even surviving the weekend.

This Independence day weekend will see as many as 4 releases at the Tollywood box office. Apart from Macherla Niyojaka Vargam and Karthikeya 2, which have some visibility, there are films like Swathimuthyam which are yet to start promotions and there is Karthi’s Viruman which has zero hype.

There is also the Telugu-dubbed version of Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha grabbing to attract some footfalls in the Telugu states.

When the theatrical audience count is so low these days, what is the need for such a mad rush to release on the same date? Yes, Independence day weekend has some holidays, but still, it’s suicidal to release so many films in a single week.

During the pre-pandemic era, audiences used to watch multiple films at least till the first weekend. But now, the audience will choose one film or a maximum of two to watch based on the hype and talk and will ignore the remaining, which will make it tough for those films even to garner a decent opening.

When the audience has become so skeptical about visiting the theaters, in these uncertain times, it is definitely harakiri to release so many films during the same weekend.
