Mahesh Babu Trolled for Insta Post

The shocking terror attack in Pahalgam has shaken the country. It left 28 tourists dead, and many others injured.

Telugu film stars like Vijay Deverakonda, Nani, and Adivi Sesh took to X to condemn the attack. They shared their sadness and stood in support of the victims’ families.

Mahesh Babu also posted on X. He called it a “dark day” and offered his prayers for those affected. But soon after, he faced major backlash for a different post on Instagram.

On April 23, Mahesh posted an Insta ad for PMJ Jewelers. The ad was part of a “Celebrating Daughters” campaign and featured him with his daughter Sitara. It spoke about daughters being “priceless treasures.”

But many felt the timing was wrong, as the country was still grieving the terror attack. That post was deemed tone-deaf amid the nation-loss.

Social media users were quick to criticize him. They said he should have delayed the post out of respect. Posting a commercial ad during a time of national mourning felt insensitive to many.

Adding to the controversy, Mahesh is also under the ED’s radar. He’s being investigated in a 3,986 crores bank fraud case involving Surana Group and Sai Surya Developers. Reports claim he was paid 5.9 crores—partly in cash—for endorsements related to the case.

The backlash shows that people expect celebrities to act responsibly, especially during difficult times for the nation.
