Malavika Slams Journalist Over “Cheap” Vijay-Trisha Question

Malavika Mohanan viral event clip

A viral clip featuring Malavika Mohanan at a public event has triggered heavy backlash online after a journalist asked her awkward questions involving CM Vijay and long-running rumors surrounding Trisha Krishnan.

The interaction reportedly began with the journalist asking why Trisha often appears alongside Vijay during public outings and whether Malavika herself had any similar “plans” while travelling with him. The question visibly surprised the actress. Smiling awkwardly at first, Malavika responded, “What kind of questions are you asking me?” before trying to laugh off the moment politely.

The journalist reportedly continued mixing gossip, jokes, and unrelated comments before suddenly shifting toward politics by asking Malavika about Vijay’s role as Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister and how his “government” was performing.

The abrupt transition made the exchange even more uncomfortable. Malavika briefly appeared stunned before calmly replying that Vijay had only recently started governing and that she could not comment on his administration yet. She then added that Vijay was a close friend and wished him success.

The clip quickly went viral, with many viewers praising Malavika for handling the situation with patience and professionalism despite the awkward line of questioning. At the same time, the “Vijay–Trisha” portion drew strong backlash online, with many users calling the questions invasive, unnecessary, and disrespectful. The journalist had crossed basic professional boundaries.

The controversy intensified further after Malavika herself responded through a clarification post on X.
She wrote: “I went for an event yesterday, and while I have the utmost regard for all the journalists and members of the Tamil Nadu media, a couple of them persistently asked some very distasteful questions that were completely unnecessary and sensational.

Thalapathy Vijay is someone I’ve known for the past seven years, someone I have a lot of respect for, and someone I’m grateful to call a friend. Watching his journey has been nothing short of incredible.

I would really appreciate it if future media interactions could be kept respectful and considerate for the sake of everyone involved.

Thank you.”

Actresses are frequently asked gossip-driven questions unrelated to their work, turning professional interactions into clickbait moments and meme content.

Abruptly mixing cinema gossip with political questions reflects poor preparation and an increasing obsession with viral soundbites rather than meaningful entertainment journalism.

Incidents like this explain why several actors increasingly prefer controlled interviews, podcasts, or direct communication through social media instead of open press meets.
