Legendary actor Mohan Babu is not doing films as frequently as many of his contemporaries. Whether it is due to personal reasons or business commitments, fans still want to see him regularly on screen. Over the past decade, he has acted in a few films, but none of them was even a minor success.
Be it special appearances like in Shaakuntalam or solo hero ventures like Son of India and Gayatri, the box office results were disastrous.
However, his current lineup looks more promising. He seems to have selected films with better directors this time. One of the first major projects is Nani’s The Paradise, directed by Srikanth Odela. Industry talk suggests that Srikanth Odela is presenting Mohan Babu in an extremely intense and violent role, something audiences have not seen before.
Playing negative shades is not new for Mohan Babu. Even during his peak as a hero, he impressed with strong character driven roles like M. Dharmaraju and Rayalaseema Ramanna Chowdary. In fact, before the 90s blockbuster Alludugaru, many of his performances carried villain shades.
There is also buzz that he has landed a powerful role in Srinivasa Mangapuram, directed by Ajay Bhupathi of RX 100 fame. The first look poster itself hints at a strong character. If both these films click, Mohan Babu could once again become busy as an actor.
Of course, convincing him is never easy. The fact that Srikanth Odela and Ajay Bhupathi managed to bring him on board suggests the scripts must be strong.
With The Paradise and Srinivasa Mangapuram expected to release in 2026, the coming days could turn out to be significant for Mohan Babu.
