NBK111 Jackpot: Which OTT Ready to Take ₹50 Crore Risk?

ZEE5 in Talks for NBK111 OTT Rights

Nandamuri Balakrishna is currently busy shooting his 111th film, directed by Gopichand Malineni. The project is progressing at a brisk pace, and expectations remain high despite Akhanda 2 ending up as a box office disappointment.

Now, an interesting update has surfaced regarding the film’s digital rights.

According to industry buzz, ZEE5 is in advanced talks to acquire the OTT rights for NBK111. Trade circles claim the platform is ready to pay around Rs. 50 crores or even more, which would make it one of the biggest digital deals of Balakrishna’s career if finalized.

The reported figure has surprised many, especially at a time when OTT platforms have become far more cautious with their spending. Over the past couple of years, streaming giants have cut back on paying huge premiums for theatrical films, making a Rs. 50-crore deal for an unreleased Balakrishna film quite remarkable.

More importantly, such a deal would considerably reduce the financial pressure on the makers.

If the film’s overall budget is in the Rs. 100-120 crore range, recovering around Rs. 50 crores through OTT alone would mean nearly half the investment is already secured before release. The remaining amount can then be recovered through theatrical business and other revenue streams, making the film a much safer commercial proposition.

Of course, neither ZEE5 nor the makers have officially confirmed the deal, and the reported amount remains industry speculation.

Interestingly, Balakrishna’s recent films have mostly premiered on Netflix and JioHotstar. If this agreement materializes, NBK111 will mark his return to ZEE5 after a long gap.

The film stars Kajal Aggarwal in a key role, with S. Thaman composing the music. It is being produced by Vriddhi Cinemas, which recently delivered Peddi.
