New Coronavirus Strain To Hamper Tollywood’s Revival Plan?

Red- Aranya- Master- KrackA new strain of Coronavirus has become a major threat to humanity just after people started breathing easy with the arrival of the vaccine. Stock markets across the globe have reacted shockingly plummeting to lows with fears gripping the investors.

Several countries including India suspended the air services from the United Kingdom. However, researchers say the strain first surfaced in September and there is a possibility that it may have already entered India. With these fears, the Telugu cinema industry is worried if the new strain will give rise to another wave which may hamper its plan to come back on its feet.

Solo Brathuke So Better is releasing for Christmas and several other films are lined up for Sankranthi and in January. Maharashtra Government has imposed a night curfew to contain the possible spread. There is a worry if this is the first step towards more Lockdowns. If the virus had already entered the country, with parties lined up for Christmas and New year can prove to be dangerous.

Researchers say the new strain is 70% more transmissible than the older strain which makes it more dangerous. It looks like Sankranthi season is in threat if some divine intervention does not help the country and the film industry to tide over the crisis. If the festive season is lost, there will be a bloodbath in the trade, and more films will take the OTT route. The OTT platforms will resort to panic-buying which will not be in the interests of the film industry.
