NTR and Prashanth Neel’s pan-India project’s shooting is silently going on without NTR participating in it. Some pre-production work is also still going on.
The team plans to begin full-fledged shooting as soon as NTR wraps up War 2. Given the scale of the film, it is expected to take around 18 months to two years for completion and release.
However, the makers have announced NTR-Neel film will release around Sankranti 2026, which as of now practically looks impossible.
Earlier, it was speculated that Devara 2 would follow after Prashanth Neel’s film, but now a fresh development is making waves.
Tamil director Nelson Dilipkumar is reportedly in discussions with NTR for a new project. Nelson has already narrated a line, which NTR liked, and he has asked for further development.
If this materializes, Nelson’s film could be next in line after Neel’s project.
The uncertainty surrounding Devara 2 adds weight to this speculation. While the makers claim a sequel is on the cards, there has been no concrete confirmation from NTR.
Given the negative reception around Devara, especially after its OTT release, it’s unclear if the team will move forward with a sequel.
Meanwhile, Nelson is gearing up for Jailer 2 with Rajinikanth, which will commence after Coolie wraps up around May. With at least 18 months needed for Jailer 2, NTR’s schedule might align with Nelson’s timeline for a new project.
However, a lot will also depend on Jailer 2’s result. Sequels in Tamil have rarely succeeded, including recent ones like Chandramukhi 2 and Indian 2.
If Jailer 2 turns out to be a disappointing fare at the box office, then NTR might obviously look at other options, and might even come back to Koratala Siva.
