Over 3 Lakh Emails to TRAI and still counting!

trai rules on internetNet Neutrality is the most discussed topic online after Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) announced it plans of considering separate charges basing on what websites and services they were using. The Telcom companies are planning to charge separately the services like Skype, Whatsapp and Viber, which they claim are eating into their profits by cutting down messages and phone calls.

TRAI put up a consultation paper on the topic and asked the users to give their views before April 24 and it said that it got more than 3 lakh emails by Monday afternoon from Indian netizens opposing such movie. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and DMK leader MK Stalin also defended net neutrality.

The Central government particularly Telecom Ministry is completely taken back by the Public backlash. Telecom minister Ravi Shankar Prasad assured all the young Internet entrepreneurs, the startups and all the creators, that the government will stands by their concerns and promised a non-discriminatory net regime.
