The situation around Peddi is getting more confusing by the day, mainly because there is no official clarity from the makers.
Even though Ram Charan recently said the film is not delayed, most signals from the industry suggest otherwise. Trade circles strongly believe the April 30 release is not possible now. At the same time, reports about Nizam distribution deals and overseas bookings being shared online are only increasing doubts instead of clearing them. Because of this, both fans and buyers are in a complete wait and watch mode.
As per current information, the team is looking at new release dates, June 4 and June 25. Since Toxic is expected to release on June 4, the third week, June 25, looks like the safer option. Toxic might not postpone anymore, as it already faced much criticism for postponing from the March 19 date due to Dhurandhar 2. Akhil Akkineni’s Lenin, after many postponements due to Peddi, will also have to move again if Peddi confirms June 25. If Peddi decides on June 4 or June 25, then either Toxic or Lenin will have to change their dates again.
On the production side, director Buchi Babu Sana is currently shooting an item song. The actress involved is being kept secret, and even Mrunal Thakur has not confirmed anything, which has led to more speculation.
From a practical point of view, postponing might actually help the film. Right now, extreme summer heat and the ongoing IPL are affecting theatre footfalls, and many recent releases have struggled because of that. A June release could give Peddi a better chance.
