Pepsico Chairman and CEO Indra Nooyi complimented Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu as a ‘Wonderful CM’ in her Sri City tour. It is usual for industrialists to heap praises on the state governments when they are touring those states. Its a kind of flattery to the politicians. But Indra Nooyi is truly impressed with Chandrababu and mentioned about him to the reporters at IIM Calcutta convocation on Saturday.
“The other day we have inaugurated the first phase of country’s largest beverage plant in Sri City. I must really appreciate that Andhra Pradesh government has been very supportive and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has been simply fantastic in supporting us (in) providing the approval on time and helping in providing the right infrastructure… the environment is very friendly,” she said.
This Pepsi plant is the biggest plant in the country for Pepsico with an investment of 1500 Crore. Fruit drinks, soft drinks and sports drinks are being made here and is expected to provide employment to 8000 people directly and indirectly. The company and its partners are planning to invest 33000 Crore in this plant by 2020.
