According to a new report by UNA, India is all set to overtake China to become the World’s most populous country in the world in the next seven years. Currently India is in the second position with 1.311 billion people in 2015 while China is at the top with 1.376 billion.
Earlier according to the estimates, India was to reach the Top position by 2050. The date has advanced as China’s population growth had decelerated over the years. Also the fertility rates in China have dropped down significantly and much lower than India’s.
Currently China has 19% of the World’s population while India has 18% of the population. Both these countries are also the most densely populated places in the World. Government in India over the years also slowed down on publicizing the population control measures.
