Recently, a small-budget film was released amid a lot of hype and ‘noise.’ The makers had delivered another successful film just before this one and it was expected that this film would also do well.
But the film didn’t live up to the expectations, and except for a small section of the audience, not many appreciated it.
Before the release, the makers got very good deals from OTT platforms for its digital rights. But the makers were expecting Rs. 9 crore deal for its OTT rights. So they rejected all the offers and waited for the film to release.
After the film’s not-so-good run at the box office, no one came forward to buy its OTT rights even for the prices they were quoting before.
Now the film is streaming on Prime Video on the Pay-Per-View model. Except for India, the film is not streaming in other countries like the USA. The overconfidence and greed of the makers cost them a lot of money.
