Renowned Kannada actor, Puneeth Rajkumar, was recently accused of not knowing how to read or write in Kannada by the well-known English newspaper, Bangalore Mirror. The accusation, being entirely false, annoyed the actor.
According to the post in the newspaper, Rajkumar has never learned Kannada, which came out at a Karaoke party when it was his turn to sing in Kannada, because he was brought up in Chennai.
However, this report was fake and in order to clear the rumour, the actor sent a letter demanding an apology to the daily regarding the matter. Actor Puneeth mentioned that while he was brought up in Chennai, he was “determined to learn to read and write Kannada”. It also said that being a proud Kannadiga who can read and write the language fluently, he would like a full apology and would take legal action in case they failed to issue one.
