Technology has brought changes in our habits. From ordering food to getting movie tickets, everything is just a click away from us. The emergence of online payments has made things easier.
A few years ago, the popularity of Book My Show was limited to television ads and usage in certain portions of India. However, the government’s rules to avoid physical contact during the lockdown made the online ticket platforms the only choice for everyone to find the best seats.
The term corporate booking slowly grabbed attention. While the word has been a common topic of discussion, the number of tickets sold every minute has helped to determine the possible box office numbers for every film.
Let’s go ahead and check the titles that created the highest records in terms of their sales on BMS.
This is a title that will never leave the first position for at least a few more years. All those who had the opportunity of enjoying it on the big screen are well aware of the atmosphere it created with clapworthy dialogues and action sequences. On top of it, there was one man, Allu Arjun, whose presence helped in the sale of 20.41 million tickets.
Nag Ashwin’s big-scale project was one of those that probably took everyone back to those days when multiple superstars appeared in a film. The initial glimpses hinted towards a Star Wars-like experience, and Rebel Star Prabhas, who created a different kind of fan base, helped to attract crowds, contributing to a sale of 13.14 million tickets.
3) Chhaava
After impressing the multiplexes with romantic stories and single screens with horror-comedy, Maddock Films decided to bring the tale of a brave warrior. This time, they were not willing to compromise and chose Vicky Kaushal and Akshaye Khanna for a face-off that did not involve the use of weapons. The writers created the best moments and dialogues on paper. Audiences were impressed, leading to sales of 12.58 million tickets.
4) Jawan
The King of Romance, The Baadshah, and so many other titles. Shah Rukh Khan’s stardom was at its peak after Pathaan. But everyone had a question in their minds. Can the superstar repeat the same success? The excitement in the BMS was the answer, where 12.40 million tickets were sold. In certain places, viewers fought against the rain and the worst weather conditions to witness SRK in a form that they had never witnessed before.
The announcement came a year ago. It did not feature a lot of things, except for the presence of the main character. Rishab Shetty knew that this small glimpse would keep everyone excited. Viewers were happy, and the buzz started to build up automatically. A few spoilers also went viral on social media, and no one could have stopped it from happening. It recorded a sale of 11.17 million tickets before release.
6) Stree 2
Creation of franchises has become a kind of necessity for every producer now. While some are doing it to earn profits, Dinesh Vijan cared for the audience. At a time when there were no blockbusters for multiple months, Stree 2 brought a different kind of energy to the audience. A flawless script was the biggest reason for it, followed by the perfect blending of horror and comedy. The excitement was witnessed before release, with sales of 11.16 million tickets in advance.
The ongoing Diwali week was supposed to recreate the same atmosphere. Unfortunately, it did not happen. The upcoming lineup of films in the next few months looks exciting. But trade experts are doubtful about whether the same rushes will be witnessed again for the Indian films on Book My Show.
A lot of things are going wrong in terms of storyline, script, and performances. It seems like a big change is needed right now to bring back the old days when multiple hits were arriving in a year. Let’s wait and see who will be the next to create headlines with their ticket sales.
