Bollywood had a dismal year at the box office, with all major releases flopping—until Stree 2 came along, delivering the entertainer of the year. With Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao leading the cast, the film had high expectations.
Going by the reviews pouring in, Stree 2 has hit it out of the park.

Directed by Amar Kaushik and Niren Bhatt, Stree 2 shifts from the original vision of Raj & DK.
The film picks up with a new demon terrorizing Chanderi—a headless monster kidnapping women. Vicky (Rajkummar Rao) and his friends, along with Shraddha Kapoor’s mysterious character, must save the village within days.

The first half is great fun which captures the original Stree’s charm, filled with humor and pop culture references, while the second half loses steam, borrowing heavily from Western influences like Stranger Things and Avengers.
The climax is dragged and gets tedious. Akshay Kumar and Varun Dhawan’s cameos leave little impact.

But the humor keeps the film alive. Despite some shortcomings in the plot, the dialogues keep the audience laughing.
Shraddha Kapoor shines in her action role, though her screen time is limited. Rajkummar Rao once again showcases his versatility, while Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana steal the show with their performances.
The songs are chartbusters. Tamannaah Bhatia, with just two scenes and a song, manages to steal the spotlight. For those 5-6 minutes, it’s impossible to look away from the screen. Amar Kaushik perfectly captures her beauty, making her brief appearance truly unforgettable.
The VFX is shoddy, especially in the climax.
Though flawed, Stree 2 is an enjoyable watch for both the masses and the classes with loads of entertainment. The film has already taken a phenomenal opening in paid previews, and with the Independence Day holiday period starting tomorrow, it’s poised to be a sure-shot blockbuster.
