The much-anticipated Pushpa 2 is set for a grand release on December 5. However, the film’s final preparations are still underway, with director Sukumar working on last-minute patchwork.
Additionally, the film’s runtime has become a topic of discussion on social media.

Early reports indicate that Pushpa 2 has a runtime of 3 hours and 21 minutes, almost on par with Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal.
Director Sukumar has spent three years crafting the film and is determined to show his baby to his audience in full glory, but the question remains: Will audiences be able to sit through such a long runtime?

The 3-hour-plus runtimes of most of the recent pan-India event films were justified because they are built around unique worlds that require significant time for world-building and character development.
These films have the luxury of introducing new settings and stories, which can afford some lags as the audience gets acclimatized to the new universe.

However, Pushpa 2 doesn’t have that luxury. The world and characters were already established in the first part, so the sequel does not need to spend time on world-building.
Instead, it must dive straight into one intense, exciting sequence after another, keeping the momentum high.
If Sukumar includes any filler or lackluster scenes, the lengthy runtime will work against the film as it will drag the narrative. Much will depend on how original and engaging the episodes are in Pushpa 2.
The anticipation for the film has been building for three years, and the audience is ready to sit through a 3-hour movie, provided the screenplay is gripping.
Sukumar is known for his ability to design original and intriguing screenplays. He has a unique knack for elevating mass scenes. As long as the film keeps the audience entertained and invested, the long runtime won’t be a problem.
In fact, after a long wait, many fans would feel let down by a film under 2.5 hours. A 3-hour-plus runtime could be a major plus if the storytelling delivers the promised excitement and satisfaction. One can only hope that Sukumar is rushing this and that Pushpa 2 won’t join the list of films that get trimmed post-release due to complaints about lengthy runtimes.
Next Sukumar film may not be released for at least the next three years. So Pushpa 2 can afford to be more than 3 hours long provided the film is entertaining and engaging enough.
