Rakasa, starring Sangeeth Shobhan and Nayan Sarika in the lead roles, is gearing up for its digital debut after its theatrical release on April 3, 2026. Directed by Manasa Sharma, the fantasy horror comedy is expected to arrive on OTT on May 1, 2026, premiering on Netflix. The film is also to be made available in Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam.
At the box office, Rakasa turned out to be an average performer despite receiving decent word of mouth. The film faced competition from Sharwanand’s Biker, which impacted its overall box office collections. While it did not manage to achieve breakeven, it still found appreciation for its fresh concept and comedic moments.
Audience response during its theatrical run suggested that the film works better in its second half, where the humor and narrative pick up effectively. The first half, however, was relatively slow and less engaging. Even so, Rakasa managed to deliver genuine laughs and offered a different setting compared to typical horror comedies, making it a decent one-time watch for many viewers.
Now, all eyes are on its OTT release, where audience reactions can often be more critical and harsher. It remains to be seen whether Rakasa finds a stronger reception on streaming or faces severe trolling as just another cringe horror-comedy.
