Ram Charan will next be seen in Game Changer and he has a stiff target to reach as his RRR co-star NTR’s Devara hit Rs 400+ crore at the box office. Given the natural comparison between Game Changer and Devara, Charan must deliver big time with his film.

In a pound-for-pound comparison, Ram Charan has a bigger baggage to carry than NTR.

Firstly, reviving interest in Game Changer which has been in the making for a long time now is going to be a challenge. He needs to ‘unstale’ this product first, be it through promotional interviews and related stuff.

Then there is Shankar who previously delivered troll stuff in Indian 2. The expectation is that he did something different with Game Changer which promises to be a socio-political film which is a strong suit of Shankar.

It is of quintessential importance that Shankar delivers a winning, or at the very least a passable product.

Lastly, we have the music director aspect. Though Thaman has a branding of his own, the musical work for Game Changer has gone unnoticed thus far as neither of the songs have worked out on the desired level.

In the case of Devara, NTR had Anirudh who single handedly drove up the buzz with songs. This isn’t the case with Game Changer.

With not many things going well leading into the promotional campaign, Charan will have a far bigger baggage to carry than NTR who at least had a sellable product in the form of Devara.

One encouraging thing is that the film has the strong Sankranthi advantage. Despite all the shortcomings before the release, if Shankar and Charan can deliver at least a decent product, then Game Changer could make the most of the Sankranthi slot and go well at the box office which is the most important thing.
