Director Shiva Nirvana, known for emotionally driven films like Ninnu Kori, Majili and Kushi, is now attempting a family drama blended with crime elements, with Ravi Teja and Priya Bhavani Shankar in the lead. The Mythri Movie Makers production is arriving in theatres on August 21.
However, one particular rumor surrounding the film has been doing the rounds for quite some time. Since Irumudi has an Ayyappa Mala backdrop, there was speculation that Ram Charan could make a surprise cameo.
The reason behind the speculation is obvious. Ram Charan is a known hardcore Ayyappa devotee, and his pictures in Ayyappa Mala attire have often attracted attention. Fans apparently connected the dots and started expecting his presence in Irumudi.
But Shiva Nirvana has now completely ruled it out.
The director said he was himself surprised by how quickly the rumor spread, adding that even his own PR team was telling him that the news was everywhere on social media. According to Shiva Nirvana, Ram Charan looks “simply divine” in the Ayyappa devotee get-up, which may have led people to connect him with the film.
He also acknowledged that Ram Charan’s devotion to Ayyappa probably made fans wish for such a cameo. But there is no Ram Charan appearance in Irumudi, and there is no surprise cameo involving the actor.
Shiva Nirvana even joked that it would have been a wonder if Ram Charan had actually appeared in the film.
Music director GV Prakash Kumar has repeatedly hinted at a surprise connected to Irumudi. According to Shiva Nirvana, that surprise has nothing to do with Ram Charan. Shiva Nirvana has made it clear that Irumudi is primarily a family emotional drama mixed with a crime story.
But Charan fans are refusing to completely give up. Some still believe Shiva Nirvana could be hiding the surprise to preserve the theatrical impact. Their dream scenario is simple: Ram Charan suddenly appearing on screen in Ayyappa attire, dancing and worshipping, while the theatres erupt.
Officially, there is no Charan cameo. But until the lights go off on August 21, some fans clearly aren’t ready to stop dreaming.
