The much-awaited reunion of Ram Charan and Sukumar is finally moving forward. After creating magic with Rangasthalam, the blockbuster duo is all set to team up once again for RC17, and the latest updates have only made fans more excited.
According to industry buzz, Sukumar has locked the final script, and the project is ready to roll. The film is expected to have a grand launch in September, with regular shooting likely to begin in November. Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings will jointly bankroll the project.
Interestingly, RC17 is said to be completely different from what many fans were expecting.
Contrary to speculation, the film will not be a period drama. It is also not being planned as a two-part franchise. Instead, Sukumar is reportedly making a stylish, high-octane action entertainer packed with his trademark twists and unpredictable screenplay.
The biggest talking point, however, is Ram Charan’s role. Sources claim the character will offer him even more scope for performance than Rangasthalam and Peddi, while also giving fans the mass action moments they have been waiting for.
Another exciting update is about the music. Instead of Sukumar’s regular collaborator, Devi Sri Prasad, a top Bollywood music director is reportedly in talks to compose the soundtrack, marking a fresh musical combination for both Sukumar and Ram Charan.
With Peddi’s average result already behind him, Ram Charan will now be aiming to deliver a genuine pan-India blockbuster. At the same time, Sukumar will be under pressure to follow up the massive success of the Pushpa franchise with something equally exciting but completely different.
If everything goes according to plan, RC17 is expected to hit theatres towards the end of 2027 or in the summer of 2028.
Given the expectations surrounding this reunion, RC17 is already shaping up to be one of the biggest Telugu films currently in development. Fans will now be eagerly waiting for the official announcement and the complete cast and crew details.
