Maverick director Ram Gopal Varma is up to his usual tricks again. After taking the industry by storm with his new technology that helps make films at low cost, he is now targeting the existing distribution model. The director has revealed that he will be putting his next film with Manchu Vishnu on public platform for auction.
It will be a simple process the director says. The rights of distribution of the film will be out for sale with a base price based on the costs involved in making of the film. Anyone can bid for the rights of the film and screen locally in the theaters in the respective areas. A businessman, a group of graduates, a software employee – anyone can bid and get the rights according to the director.
This is a radical though without any doubt. Wonder what the existing distributors have to say about it or is it because they don’t care in any case that the director had to resort to these tricks? We leave the final judgment to readers discretion.
