It is known that music maestro Ilayaraaja was accorded with Rajyasabha membership nomination by the Narendra Modi government.
Incidentally, in the official media statement issued by the government with regard to the Rajyasabha nomination, it is mentioned that they have given a berth to Dalit.
Netizens are now faulting the statement which refers to Ilayaraaja as a Dailt.
“The greatest musician I have ever loved had been reduced to just ‘a dalit’! What a tragic day!” A netizen tweeted.
The fact that Ilayaraaja, one of the greatest musicians in Indian cinema has been reduced to a Dalit for caste politics is not sitting well with the social media crowd.
On a related note, Rajamouli’s father Vijayendra Prasad, former athlete PT Usha, and Veerendra Hegde were also given Rajyasabha nominations.
