Ravana Remark: Sai Pallavi Faces Heat, Rajamouli Didn’t?

Sai Pallavi Ravana Remark Social Media Debate

Sai Pallavi has been trending ever since she was confirmed to play the role of Sita in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana. The actress is in the headlines right now after a few words she said in an interview went viral on social media.

A video of Sai Pallavi, which was seemingly taken at the premiere of the film in Los Angeles, features her saying that Ravana is not all bad. The words came out when she was speaking to a reporter. Sai Pallavi also said, “It’s important that we spot the Ravana in us and we make changes over time.”

Sai’s statement led to a different debate on social media. A lot of people questioned why she was trying to land herself in trouble or a big controversy before the film’s arrival on the big screen.

A few even criticized Sai, writing that she should convey the intentions behind her statement properly. A person also stated that she should not be a part of the film industry.

On the other hand, a particular section also started supporting Sai. People wrote that she was possibly speaking about the screen presence of Yash, who plays Ravana in the film. A few even alleged that the interview video was edited, hinting at the fact that this was aimed at creating negativity.

One of the reactions featured a user saying that Sai was repeating exactly what a lot of religious scholars and Hindu Acharyas address themselves. Some others clarified that Sai’s words were being taken out of context and people should listen to the entire interview instead of watching a portion of it.

Notably, a few reports have previously claimed that the film has whitewashed Ravana, and some netizens believe that if those rumours are true, a big controversy will happen, bringing more losses to the film.

But some people have even questioned the ongoing criticism, where they recalled an interview of S.S. Rajamouli. Notably, the director said in that old conversation that he likes Ravana more than Ram. Referring to the interview, people asked why boycott calls are being made for Sai and why people did not do the same thing when Rajamouli made a similar statement.

As of now, Sai’s statement has not turned into a big controversy. The advance booking of Ramayana has been good so far in India. But it will be interesting to see if Sai’s interview will have any kind of negative impact on the collections.
