The ultimate box office battle is getting fierce with every passing minute. The advance bookings for Prabhas’ Salaar and SRK’s Dunki have begun and the initial response seems encouraging.
Coming to PIC (PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis), the national chain of multiplexes, Dunki is leading by a huge margin by selling more than 60,000 tickets for its opening day. Salaar on the other hand has sold around 20 K tickets in PIC out of which 6000 is for the Hindi version.
If we take overall advance bookings, Salaar has sold 1,50,000 tickets in all 5 languages, against Dunki which has sold around 1.2 Lakh tickets.
Dunki is phenomenal in Kolkata and East Pujab, whereas it is good to decent in Mumbai, Delhi, and other parts of India. Dunki is also picking up in the overseas markets in a big way. Hyderabad is also showing fast-filling shows but due to Salaar, there is less number of shows for Dunki in Telugu states.
Salaar is wreaking havoc in Telugu states, Karnataka, Kerala, and the US. In other circuits, it needs to pick up drastically. Maybe the final punch trailer would increase Salaar’s hype in the North from today.
Dunki is poised to take an opening of 40-45 crores net on its opening day. Salaar as of now is not performing to its potential and is looking to open somewhere around 15 crores.
It is difficult as of now to say which film will eventually turn out to be a better performer at the box office.
If we compare PIC, then Dunki is way ahead of Salaar. But overall it is Salaar. But then we compare a 5-language movie, Salaar, with a one-language movie Dunki.
Let’s hope both movies turn out to be huge hits and end 2023 with a huge bang at the box office.
