Let’s get straight into the point. Karan Johar, besides being a big draw as director is without any doubt a top producer in Bollywood with some serious influence and clout of his own. The star producer has given breaks to several newcomers and creates many protégés, be it as actors or as directors. His favourite though remains Karan Malhothra who made his debut as director with Agneepath starring Hrithik Roshan.
The debut was a huge success and thus the producer announced another mammoth and dream film in the same combination of the director and actor. However the actor due to his personal issues opted out of the film leaving the unit high and dry. Karan Johar had from that moment took it as a prestige issue and has been in talks with various top stars to star in the film. It was him who has been receiving all the flak regarding the film due to the way things were going post the walking out of Hrithik Roshan.
So when a big star came on board finally, many expected the producer for a grand announcement but Salman Khan, who has agreed to star in the film, put him in a state of embarrassment when he announced the project as part of many others, casually, in conversation with the press. It might have been a problem with new stars on block but we guess with Salman, it is usually his way more often than not.
