The team behind the film “Animal,” starring Ranbir Kapoor, responded to criticism from legendary writer Javed Akhtar by suggesting that if a writer of his “caliber” cannot understand the betrayal depicted in the film, then his art is false.
Recently, Javed Akhtar criticized a scene in “Animal” where the lead character, Rannvijay (Ranbir Kapoor), asks Zoya (Triptii Dimri) to lick his shoes as a test of her love. Akhtar raised concerns about the impact of such scenes on societal values and called it dangerous.
As the controversy unfolded, some speculated that the film’s handle indirectly also targeted Javed Akhtar’s daughter, named Zoya Akhtar.
The film (Hindi version) has surpassed 490 crores net at the Indian box office, with opinions suggesting that this must be Vanga’s last trick to make it reach the 500-crore mark by giving fire to another controversy.
Javed Akhtar and Sandeep Reddy Vanga are both sensible individuals. Chances are, if they meet at a party or event, they’ll likely patch things up and share a hearty laugh about the whole controversy.
