Director Anil Ravipudi has become a Sankranti hero, consistently walking away with the festival winner crown.
In 2025, he took on Ram Charan’s big Pan-India film Game Changer. In 2026, he competed against Prabhas’ The Raja Saab. Both Pan-India films ended up as disasters, while Anil Ravipudi hit the bullseye by filling theaters and emerging as the clear Sankranti winner.
In both seasons, the other releases also failed to pose a serious threat. Anil’s casting, his strong comedy brand, and the rival films being in relatively serious or non-comedy zones gave him a clear advantage.
However, Sankranti 2027 presents a completely different scenario.
This time, it is Regional vs Regional, with an all-Telugu lineup. More importantly, except for Sai Dharam Tej’s SYG – Sambarala Yeti Gattu, almost every film in the race is an entertainer.
Anil Ravipudi still has the edge because of his signature comedy brand and proven crowd-pulling ability.
But a quality entertainer can never be underestimated, especially during Sankranti. If any competing film clicks strongly, it can explode quickly and pose a serious threat to Anil’s film.
That is what makes the 2027 Sankranti battle particularly interesting. Anil is no longer competing against big Pan-India films in different genres. He is facing multiple regional Telugu films operating in his strongest zone, entertainment.
These films could give him a tight fight not only in the Telugu states but also in North America and other overseas markets.
Can Anil Ravipudi dominate Sankranti one-sidedly once again, or will the regional entertainers finally stop his winning streak?
