Late lyricist Sirivennela Seetarama Shastry’s last song, ‘Sirivennela’ from Shyam Singha Roy, is out now. It is a trademark melody composed by music director Mickey J Mayer.
The duo of Sirivennela Seetarama Shastry and Mickey J Mayer has delivered classic melody numbers in the past. ‘Sirivennela’ is another beautiful addition to them. The soothing quality of the music, lyrics, and singing makes it special.
Of course, there is a ‘heard before’ kind of feeling, musically, and that’s why the lyrics do the magic. They make the song stand out despite the familiar sound. It would take a few listens, but one will eventually fall in love.
The three songs from Mickey J Mayer show his versatility. If the first single was a rousing heroic number, the second and third are melodies with huge variations. ‘Edo Edo’ is modern and upbeat, whereas ‘Sirivennela’ has old-world charm and a classical appeal to it.
Rahul Sankrityan directs Shyam Singha Roy. He presents Natural Star Nani is an entirely new look and background. The pair of Nani and Sai Pallavi looks terrific in the Kolkata setting.
