Right from the time when ‘Srimanthudu’ title started doing rounds before the film’s release, many had apprehensions on such a soft and outdated title for a Mahesh Babu’s movie. But after the film’s release, the title proved apt for the concept ‘Giving back’ dealt in the movie.

Speaking during the Thank you meet of Srimanthudu, rajendra Prasad who played an important character ‘Devarakota Narayana’ in the movie opined that the success of the movie lies in the confidence of the director to go with the soft title ‘Srimanthudu’. Choosing such soft and positive titles had been vogue in bygone days.
He took a dig at the present day titles of our movies which ooze negativity which Rajendra Prasad didn’t like to pronounce even because he is in Ayyappa Deesksha. Needless to say, he meant titles like ‘Idiot’, ‘Pokiri’, ‘Desha Muduru’ etc. And ironically one such negative title belongs to Mahesh’s earlier movie.
