Superstar Krishna was admitted to Continental hospital in Hyderabad later last night after he suffered a cardiac arrest. Despite the best efforts of the medical team, he sadly passed away around 4 AM this morning. Here’s a look back at the illustrious career he headlined.
Krish was born on 31 May, 1943 in Burripalem, Guntur. He was married to Indira Devi with whom he had 5 kids. One of them is reigning superstar Mahesh Babu.
Krishna started off his career as the main lead with Thene Manasulu which released in 1965. He later went on to produce several technologically first films like Alluri Seetharama Raju which was the first CinemaScope film back then. The first 70MM film, Simhasanam, first DTS film Telugu Veera Levara, and also started the spy films trend with Goodachari 116, and James Bond 777.
He even directed films like Sankharavam, Mugguru Kodukulu and others. He paired with Vijaya Nirmala for a record 48 times on screen and later went on to marry her.
Krishna is known for his daring and dynamic personality and he even tried his hand at politics. He was even elected as the Member Of Parliament from Congress Party in 1989. He was awarded Padma Bhushan in 2009.
Krishna hadn’t been active in films or politics of late but the impact he had on the film industry with his technological reforms can never be forgotten or submined. The Telugu film industry has lost a true legend.
