With the massive success of Karuppu, Suriya has made a solid comeback and the entire Kollywood industry and fans are now eagerly awaiting his upcoming films with huge expectations.
Suriya is currently awaiting the release of his next film Vishwanath & Sons directed by Venky Atluri, which is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on August 14th. Simultaneously, the actor is acting as the lead in a commercial entertainer tentatively titled Suriya 47 directed by Jithu Madhavan. Both Vishwanath & Sons and Suriya 47 materialized even before the release of Karuppu.
Even though the actor has not yet officially announced his 48th film, social media has been flooded with many speculations regarding it. While some sources suggest that he is going to reunite with TJ Gnanavel, there are also speculations that he is considering collaborating with the director Vignesh Raja for his 48th film.
Amidst these speculations, now there is strong talk that Suriya 48 will most probably be helmed by director Pa Ranjith. According to sources, Suriya was supposed to act as the lead in Pa Ranjith’s most celebrated film, Sarpatta Parambarai. However, it did not materialize, but both have maintained a good rapport. In this scenario, Pa Ranjith recently narrated a script to Suriya and after the narration, Suriya was highly impressed with it. Therefore, they might highly likely collaborate for Suriya 48 and an official announcement on this is expected soon.
In response to this speculation, Suriya fans have already started celebrating on social media, suggesting that if this combo happens, it would be a sure-shot blockbuster. This is because they believe Pa Ranjith is one of the best directors in the Kollywood industry and hope that if he collaborates with a performer like Suriya, the duo will deliver an iconic film.
On the other hand, some people feel that it is an unnecessary collaboration. Pointing to the success of Karuppu, they suggest Suriya should do more commercial entertainers and maintain the momentum he gained through the massive success of Karuppu rather than collaborating with an offbeat director like Pa Ranjith.
Additionally, pointing to the failures of Pa Ranjith’s Kabali with Rajinikanth and Thangalaan with Vikram, they claim that Pa Ranjith always delivers flops whenever there are huge expectations among the audiences. Therefore, they feel Suriya fans should reduce their expectations for this collaboration and are also advising Suriya to make a wise decision.
Nevertheless, there is still no official update on this and we have to wait and watch whether Suriya and Pa Ranjith will collaborate and if they do, how the project will take shape in the future.
