It’s been over two years since actor Suriya had a proper theatrical release. His last theatrical film as a hero was “ET,” which hit theaters in March 2022. Since then, there haven’t been any new releases, except for the hugely popular cameo as Rolex in “Vikram.”
Despite announcing several projects, none have come to materialization. “Kanguva,” in production for over two years, is set for a Diwali release this year. Another collaboration with director Bala was halted due to creative differences after shooting a large portion.
Plans with Vetrimaaran for “Vaadi Vasal” are on indefinite hold, and a potential collaboration with Pa Ranjith didn’t materialize. Additionally, the film “Puranaanooru,” with Sudha Kongara, is facing delays as they aim to make changes to the story.
The latest update is a collaboration with Karthik Subbaraj for a film tentatively titled “Suriya 44.”
However, uncertainty looms over the release dates and progress of these projects, as Suriya continues to announce new films without clarity on how and when they will release.
