It has been a while since Tamil star Surya had delivered a big money grossing blockbuster at the ticket counters. But his patient wait has come to an end with Karuppu which is on a sensationally good run.
The film has comfortably crossed over ₹200 crore global box office revenue which is by far the highest ever for Surya and it provided him with a dream like comeback prospect.
In terms of content, the film might not be the brightest work in recent times but the vacuum for big hero film experience amongst the South Indian audience has clearly played a part here.
The musical brilliance that was displayed by Sai Abhyankar had clearly worked the charm and it made up for narrative lapses. Earlier it was Anirudh Ravichandran who used to do such musical brilliance and now Sai has done it some effect.
The amalgamation of all these efforts have clearly impressed Surya as he gifted some of the costly Electric SUVs to main members of the crew associated with the film. He must be the most relieved man after making a solid comeback.
Surya is one of the much loved South Indian stars who were currently active in the industry, and everyone was rooting for his success at one point in time. It is good to see him finally deliver on the big stage, maybe not in terms of the quality of the film but the box office revenue of the same.
