For a long time now, the Telugu film industry has been struggling with the lack of adequate musical talent in the industry. Devi Sri Prasad is possibly the last elite commercial music director produced by Telugu cinema domestically.
It can perhaps be argued that there is a possible solution for this problem, and it is lying here in South Indian Cinema itself.
For instance, we have the case of Malayalam entertainment industry, which consistently produces some of the most entertaining independent songs in South India. The recent case of Kalyani is a new addition to the list.
They have historically produced a bunch of famous songs that have a lot of musical value and visual appeal as well. This is something that the Telugu musical industry is lacking.
If there is this culture of Indie music and independent songs in Telugu cinema, there is a chance that we could be producing more musical talent here. This would perfectly provide the platform for young talent to display themselves on the big stage and potentially enter into films.
So it is perhaps the prime necessity for Telugu cinema to focus on this aspect. Independent music composers can published their musical works on Youtube through independent channels and gain recognition, much like how many Malayali musicians have been doing.
