Music director SS Thaman has been under a lot of flak from a long time, simply for the fact that he has been a big success in Telugu and he gets way too many offers. The music director who made his debut with Kick in 2009 has already completed 50 films as composer. That is pretty fast any which way one looks at.

But off late there has been extreme criticism on the young musician because of the same nature which leads him to do so many films in the first place. The music in Thaman albums is becoming repetitive and the sound doesn’t seem fresh most of the time. This was all fine but then if one adds a few copied numbers into the mix, one can understand the immense flak he gets. In fact people have become so enthusiastic to point out at copies that they don’t even want to check if the copy is done other way, like recent background music from the trailer of Aagadu. It was Thaman’s score which was used in a Malayalam film but many without realizing this fact accuse Thaman of copying.
Coming to the actual copied stuff, the music director has agreed to that. He says, “I have to deliver what my producers and directors want”. Does this mean that there are times when the producer or the director insists using a particular song and that he couldn’t say no to them? With 50 albums under a music director’s belt, when one can only point out a couple of numbers as copied, one must understand who is speaking the truth here.
