The Paradise & Toxic: Why Delays Aren’t Hurting Them?

The Paradise and Toxic movie buzz

What exactly is happening with The Paradise and Toxic? Both films have faced multiple delays, release-date changes, and constant speculation. Normally, repeated postponements hurt a film’s momentum. Yet these two projects continue to remain among the most discussed upcoming pan-India releases.

Take The Paradise first.

The Nani-Srikanth Odela film was initially scheduled for March and later shifted to August. Now, industry talk suggests that a September 25 release is being actively considered. The makers have already completed around 100 days of shooting, with another 60 days reportedly remaining.

Interestingly, Netflix, which reportedly acquired the digital rights, is said to be pressuring the makers to avoid any further delays. The streaming giant reportedly wants the film released in September, irrespective of the exact date.

Despite these postponements, the buzz around The Paradise remains intact. The biggest reason is that the makers have revealed very little about the actual story. Audiences have seen glimpses of the world, Nani’s intense transformation, and the film’s gritty atmosphere, but the core narrative remains a mystery. That sense of discovery is keeping the excitement alive.

The film also has another major advantage: Aaya Sher. The song has emerged as a genuine chartbuster and has significantly boosted the film’s reach. It has helped establish the mood, world, and character of the film while creating strong recall value among audiences. Even months after its release, the track continues to be widely discussed and shared on social media.

Because of that, many trade observers believe The Paradise is almost guaranteed to take a strong opening whenever it arrives. Whether the film releases in August, September, or later, audiences are expected to show up in large numbers. The real challenge begins after the opening day. Hype, songs, and promotions can bring audiences on Day 1. Only content can sustain them beyond that.

Coing to Yash’s comeback film Toxic, it has gone through even more uncertainty. Originally expected in March and then in June, the film has now become synonymous with release-date speculation. Reports suggest that an unresolved OTT deal is the biggest factor. Industry circles claim the producers are expecting around Rs. 200 crore for the digital rights, while OTT platforms are reportedly offering only Rs. 100-120 crore.

For a film reportedly mounted on a budget close to Rs. 600 crore, that gap is significant.

At the same time, Toxic has attracted a lot of backlash. Every glimpse, teaser, or promotional asset has generated debate. Director Geetu Mohandas has faced intense scrutiny, with some viewers questioning the film’s violent tone and bold sexual content. Ironically, all this discussion has helped keep the film in the spotlight.

Just like The Paradise, audiences still do not fully understand what Toxic is about. The film has a distinct visual identity and an unusual world, but the actual story remains largely hidden. That mystery is preventing the delays from damaging audience interest.

Ultimately, both films are benefiting from the same factor: curiosity.

Unlike many big-budget projects that reveal too much too early, The Paradise and Toxic have managed to protect their biggest asset: the unknown. Audiences know the world, the tone, and the atmosphere, but not the journey.

That is why the delays have not hurt them the way they hurt most films. People are still curious. People still want answers.

And as long as that curiosity exists, both films will continue to command attention. The openings are likely to be huge. What happens after that will depend entirely on whether the content lives up to the promise.
