A new trend is becoming increasingly visible in the Telugu film industry. Many major film events that were once almost exclusively held in Hyderabad are now shifting to Andhra Pradesh.
Recent examples include:
Peddi pre-release event in Vijayawada.
NBK112 launch event in Amaravati.
Lenin success celebrations and promotional events in Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada.
The latest to join is Korean Kanakaraju pre-release event in Bhimavaram, along with a live concert by Thaman.
Individually, these may seem like isolated decisions. But together, they point to a noticeable shift.
According to industry insiders, one of the biggest reasons is the stricter rules governing large public film events under CM Revanth Reddy’s Telangana government. After crowd management concerns at previous events, especially after the Pushpa 2 Sandhya 2 stampede, obtaining permission for large-scale gatherings in Hyderabad has reportedly become more difficult.
As a result, many producers are increasingly looking towards Andhra Pradesh, where the government and local authorities are believed to be more accommodating to hosting large public events.
This does not mean Hyderabad is losing its place in the Telugu film industry. Film production, studios, post-production, and most business activities continue to remain firmly rooted there. However, when it comes to pre-release events, success celebrations, and large fan gatherings, Andhra Pradesh is steadily emerging as the preferred destination.
If this trend continues, Andhra Pradesh could attract a much larger share of Telugu cinema‘s promotional events and even more film shoots, thanks to fresher locations, lower logistical risks, and a more supportive administrative environment. Hyderabad may not lose its status as the industry’s production capital, but the gradual shift towards Andhra Pradesh is difficult to ignore.
