Real Crisis In Tollywood But No One Caring?

Tollywood music directors industry debate

For many years now, Telugu Cinema has been lagging behind Bollywood and Tamil Cinema when it comes to producing young talents. The lack of technical advancements from the grassroot level has been affecting Tollywood for a while now.

For instance, we have a complex situation in Telugu cinema, where there is this desperate need for young music directorial talent these days.

Apart from the conventional favourites, Devi Sri Prasad and SS Thaman Telugu cinema does not have many other options when it comes to original music production.

There might be occasional successful stories like Bheems or Sricharan Pakala or others. But when it comes to consistent music production where a young musician who can deliver top grade stuff, that’s where the problem is.

Tamil has multiple young talents like GV Prakash, Sai Abhyankar and the sensational Anirudh Ravichander yo their ranks. Such diversity and young talent pool is clearly missing in the case of Tollywood and it has been the case for many years now.

This is an immediate problem for Telugu cinema as directors have also started to import talent from Tamil cinema or Kannada cinema these days. But a permanent solution would obviously be to encourage homegrown talent.

Sandeep Reddy might have delivered Harshavardhan as a diverse music option but the sustainability is missing. Perhaps it is time for other Telugu directors to also find a domestic musical talent and encourage them to the fullest to fill in the gaps.
