Tollywood is the most happening film industry in Indian cinema now. With two pan-India blockbusters – Pushpa and RRR after the pandemic, no industry has tasted success, barring the solitary KGF 2 from Kannada, of this magnitude. But which Telugu hero has the best line up henceforth?
The RRR star has lined up NTR30 with Koratala Siva and NTR31 with Prashanth Neel. NTR31 shows a whole lot of promise, given that Prashanth Neel has delivered a box office monster KGF 2. The equation might change after Salaar though. Koratala Siva is fresh off the disastrous Acharya, but he ramped things up with NTR30 motion poster which has received a largely positive reception.
Ram Charan is working with Shankar for RC15. Shankar is out of form now, but there is no doubting his potential. And moreover, Shankar is coming sticking to his forte – socially relevant action drama. But as for Charan’s next with Gowtam Tinnanuri, the latter is a class filmmaker. He has promised an action packed entertainer with RC16 but fans are skeptical so as to how this combo will work out.
The macho star delivered two duds – Saaho and Radhe Shyam after Baahubali 2. But his next two films, Adipurush and Salaar look really promising. Adipurush is a full-on Bollywood project with not many familiar Telugu faces. The Ramayan theme is the positive. Salaar is a heavy duty actioner with KGF director Prashanth Neel. Prabhas’s fans are pinning high hopes on these two films.
Allu Arjun has a golden goose in Pushpa 2. It could well rewrite many existing records if it comes with the right content, given that Pushpa got a monstrous reach. He is yet to announce his next project after Pushpa 2.
Mahesh Babu is one of the very few mainstream Telugu superstars who hasn’t entered pan-India market. He will work with Trivikram for his next and this will be a Telugu film. Mahesh will then announce himself on the pan-India stage with Rajamouli’s film. There is a lot to look forward to with this film. While Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Allu Arjun, and Prabhas are already known faces in pan-India circuit, Mahesh is yet to get there. But his domestic market is super strong and it can only get better with Rajamouli’s film.
Pawan Kalyan will be making his pan-India debut with Hari Hara Veera Mallu, a Krish directorial. Or at least, that is the branding the makers gave to this film. Pawan has also lined up Bhavadeeyudu Bhagat Singh with Harish Shankar. It is hard to predict the box office prospects of these two films just yet.
As it stands, most of the Telugu heroes have an exciting line up. Whether or not they can attain the desired box office success with these films is a question that will be answered in the future.
